Everton Complete Deal To Sign £9m-Rated Nigerian Midfielder

Everton have reportedly completed a £9m move for Aston Villa’s England-born Nigerian midfielder, Tim Iroegbunam.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. the 20-year-old looks set to be Everton’s first signing of the summer.
“Everton have completed deal to sign Aston Villa midfielder Tim Iroegbunam for fee around £9m, medical to follow,” Romano wrote on X.

Iroegbulam featured 15 times under Unai Emery last summer – including five times in the Europa Conference League.
Prior to that, he enjoyed a successful loan at QPR last season, making 32 appearances and scoring twice.

He also has two goals in seven games for England’s U20 side and is a highly-rated youngster that will bolster Sean Dyche’s midfield options.
Iroegbunam is a product of the West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa academies.

He spent the 2022–23 season on loan at EFL Championship side Queens Park Rangers, and also appeared for England at under-19 and under-20 levels, winning the UEFA European Under-19 Championship with the former in 2022.

The draw for the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League Round of 16 has produced blockbuster fixtures as Europe’s elite begin their knockout push toward Budapest 2026.

Among the standout ties, Paris Saint-Germain will face Chelsea, while Real Madrid renew their rivalry with Manchester City in what is billed as the clash of the round.

Elsewhere, Galatasaray take on Liverpool, and Atalanta meet Bayern Munich.

The UEFA Champions League play-off round concluded on Wednesday, with several top clubs sealing places in the Round of 16 ahead of Friday’s draw.

On Tuesday, Atlético Madrid defeated Club Brugge 4-1 to advance 7-4 on aggregate, while Bayer Leverkusen progressed 2-0 overall after a goalless draw with Olympiacos.

Bodø/Glimt stunned Inter Milan 2-1 away to seal a 5-2 aggregate win. Newcastle United thrashed Qarabağ 3-2 for a 9-3 aggregate victory.

On Wednesday, Atalanta BC came from behind to beat Borussia Dortmund 4-1 and advance 4-3 on aggregate. Real Madrid edged Benfica 2-1 to progress 3-1 overall, while defending champions Paris Saint-Germain drew 2-2 with Monaco to go through 5-4 on aggregate. Galatasaray also eliminated Juventus.

The Round of 16 draw holds Friday, February 27, 2026.
