Nigerian singer Rema humorously sidestepped the question of which country makes the best jollof rice during an interview at the Louis Vuitton S/S Mens2025 show in Paris, France, on June 19, 2024.
In a video shared on Instagram by The People Gallery, Rema, showcasing his outfit, named LV, quipped about his attire, including a varsity jacket he had opted not to wear.
When asked by the host to name someone as talented as him, Rema playfully replied with “Black is safe.”
Expressing his love for jollof rice when prodded about his favorite food, Rema avoided getting into the debate over which African country prepares the best jollof rice, stating amidst laughter, “You know, that’s one discussion I really don’t want to have. The jollof rice battle is one I don’t want to be a part of.”
The conversation continued with inquiries about his current favorite song (“Charm” by Rema himself) and his star sign (Taurus, born on May 1).
The event also featured interviews with other African music stars like Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tems, Uncle Waffles, and Adekunle Gold. Social media buzzed with videos capturing the camaraderie among these artists at the prestigious fashion event, including Rema exchanging pleasantries with Jacob & Co-owner Jacob Arabo.
Rema’s humorous refusal to engage in the jollof rice debate showcased his focus on music and his ability to navigate lighthearted conversations with charm and wit.
