The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Finidi George as the new head coach of the Super Eagles, entrusting him with the crucial task of steering the team to qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The confirmation of Finidi’s appointment came from the NFF on Monday, signaling a new era for Nigerian football.

The Super Eagles currently find themselves in a challenging position in the qualifiers, having drawn their first two games against Lesotho and Zimbabwe. With crucial matches against South Africa and Benin scheduled for June, the pressure is on for the team to secure victories and regain momentum in the qualifying campaign.

Ikpeba, a member of the NFF technical committee, emphasized the importance of these upcoming fixtures, stating that winning is imperative for Nigeria’s World Cup aspirations. Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, on Wednesday, May 14, 2024.

Accompanied by his manager, Yahaya Atom, and Mr. Yemi Idowu, Ndidi engaged in discussions with the Sports Minister on various matters pertaining to Nigerian football.

During the visit, Senator Enoh extended his congratulations to Ndidi on Leicester City’s promotion to the English Premier League, acknowledging the midfielder’s contributions to the team’s success. He also took the opportunity to discuss the upcoming World Cup qualifying matches, scheduled to commence early next month.

The minister emphasized the importance of preparation and urged Ndidi to play a pivotal role in the Super Eagles’ quest to secure their place in the World Cup. Boniface Dedicates Bundesliga Rookie Award To Fans

Victor Boniface has dedicated his Bundesliga Rookie of the Season award to his fans.

The Nigeria international was named winner of the award on Wednesday.

Boniface beat Xavi Simons, Ian Maatsen, and Maximilian Beier to the individual accolade.

The 23-year-old make an instant impact in the Bundesliga winning the Rookie of the Month trophies four months in a row.

“9ja no dey carry last. Thank you, guys,” the striker posted on X after he was announced.

Boniface has scored 13 goals and provided nine assists in 22 league games for Bayer Leverkusen this season.

The forward has registered 20 goals and 10 assists in 32 games across all competitions in the current campaign.

He joined Bayer Leverkusen from Belgian Pro League outfit, Union St Gilloise last summer.
