President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to officially receive and host Nigeria’s triumphant Super Falcons today, Monday, July 28, 2025, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. This grand reception is in recognition of their stunning comeback victory in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final against Morocco, securing a record-extending 10th continental title.
The Super Falcons, who clinched the championship with a thrilling 3-2 victory in Rabat, arrived back in Nigeria on Sunday evening. Their official arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, is slated for noon today.
Upon arrival, the team will embark on a celebratory motorcade parade through key areas of Abuja. The route will include Airport Road, Berger Junction, Maitama, and Wuse Market, allowing enthusiastic fans to celebrate with their champions before the team proceeds to the State House for the official reception by the President. The iconic WAFCON trophy will be prominently displayed throughout the motorcade for public viewing.
President Tinubu had personally congratulated the team via video call immediately following their historic win in Rabat. He described their performance as “spectacular” and symbolic of the Nigerian spirit, highlighting their remarkable resilience, dedication, and unity.
This reception and trophy parade, organized in collaboration with the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), forms part of a national celebration to honor the Super Falcons’ unparalleled achievement, cementing their place in Nigerian sports history.
