Renowned Nigerian musician, Onyeka Onwenu, reveals plans to produce a cinematic masterpiece encapsulating her illustrious journey spanning decades within the music industry, promising to offer audiences an intimate insight into the evolution of Nigerian music.
In an exclusive interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) conducted in Lagos on Tuesday, the “elegant stallion” expressed her excitement at the prospect of sharing her firsthand experiences and narratives accumulated since the 1970s.
Onwenu affirmed, “I am currently immersed in the production of a film that will document my musical odyssey from the 70s up to the present day. With decades of involvement in the industry, I possess a treasure trove of tales waiting to be shared.”

Reflecting on her philanthropic endeavors, Onwenu underscored her dedication to providing educational opportunities for underprivileged children, particularly in Abia State, with plans underway to expand her initiatives to Imo State.
“We not only cover school fees but also provide civic education to instill cultural pride. These efforts represent my unwavering commitment to empowering future generations,” the musician emphasized.
Offering words of advice to fellow artists amidst economic challenges, Onwenu stressed the importance of resilience and proactive engagement.
“Stay resilient and create your own opportunities,” she urged, highlighting the necessity for adaptive strategies in navigating the dynamic landscape of the music industry.
