Four customers, one of whom was identified as Daniel Adefemi Okunade, an employee of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), tragically died as a result of suspected criminals targeting the busy Abdullahi Supermarket in One Man Village, close to Mararaba, Nasarawa State, on Tuesday night.
Okunade, recognized by his CBN identity card, was fatally shot in the head during the brief and daring robbery operation. The three other victims, who lost their lives in the gruesome incident, remain unidentified at the time of this report.
According to an eyewitness, the entire robbery unfolded in less than two minutes, during which the CBN staff, also known as the choir master of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in One Man Village, fell victim to the assailants. Okunade, on his way home from work, had stopped at the supermarket to purchase bread for his family when the criminals struck.
Remarkably, the criminals spared Okunade’s Toyota Venza car parked outside the supermarket, adding an eerie contrast to the tragic events that transpired inside.
The community is now grappling with shock and tension as people gather at the supermarket to identify the victims of this ruthless act. The late Okunade’s untimely demise has left a void in the hearts of many, especially in the Christ Apostolic Church, where he served as the choir master.
At present, police operatives from the New Nyayan Divisional Police Station have transferred the bodies of the robbery victims to the Mararaba Medical Center mortuary. The police, however, have not released any official information regarding the incident.
