Patients in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have lamented limited services at several general hospitals in Abuja, citing closed pharmacies, absent laboratory staff, and inadequate medical personnel, largely blamed on acute manpower shortages.
At Kubwa General Hospital, a patient, Rotimi Raheem, said pharmacies were locked and laboratory services unavailable, leaving patients unable to access drugs or conduct basic tests.
Similar complaints were reported at Wuse General Hospital, where Ibeto Onakwe said emergency units were poorly staffed, with few doctors attending to patients needing urgent care.
At Nyanya General Hospital, Idris Yahuri said patients could not access their medical records due to the absence of administrative officers.
Reacting, the President of the Association of Resident Doctors at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH), Adewale-Adeleye Premiere, attributed the situation to severe understaffing worsened by the mass exit of health workers from the country.
He said the number of resident doctors at UATH had dropped from about 500–600 to roughly 220, warning that without urgent government intervention, healthcare delivery in the FCT could deteriorate further.

President Bola Tinubu, senators, and other prominent Nigerians have celebrated the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Dr. Zacch Adedeji, on his birthday, commending his leadership and contributions to public finance management.
President Tinubu praised Adedeji’s innovative approach to revenue administration, particularly his role in advancing reforms such as the National Single Window initiative aimed at streamlining import and export processes.
Former PCNGi Programme Director and CEO, Engineer Michael Oluwagbemi, described Adedeji as a visionary leader committed to excellence and national service.
Also paying tribute, Senator Yunus Akintunde referred to him as a “rare gem and a blessing to humanity,” while Barrister Akeem Agbaje lauded his exemplary record in public service.
Team Koseleri, a group of former local government chairmen, commended Adedeji’s tax reforms, noting improved efficiency, transparency, and revenue generation. The Federal Polytechnic Ayede also congratulated him, citing his integrity, competence, and visionary leadership.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit filed by Engr. Sunday (Sunny) Oche against Michael Unogwu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In its ruling on Thursday, the court held that the suit failed to disclose a reasonable cause of action and did not meet the legal requirements to proceed, leading to its dismissal.
The decision effectively ends Oche’s legal challenge, as the reliefs sought in the suit will no longer be considered by the court, except if he chooses to appeal.
The judgment leaves Unogwu and the APC unaffected by the claims, with observers awaiting reactions from the parties on the political implications of the ruling.
