Rangers International Football Club has announced the commencement of their pre-season training on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. The reigning Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions have confirmed the retention of 22 key players from their victorious campaign last season.
The retained players include Japhet Opubo, Detan Ogundare, Ikenna Stephen, Joel Odoh, Kenneth Igboke, Austin Onyemaechi, Philip Clement, Ejike Ugochukwu, Kalu Nweke, Kenechukwu Agu, Isaac Saviour, and Godwin Obaje. The roster is further strengthened by Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, Austin Opara, Chidiebere Nwobodo, Chinemerem Ugwueze, Chiedozie Okorie, Kazeem Ogunleye, Kingsley Maduforo, Naziru Auwalu, Rabiu Muhammad, and Frank Uwumiro.
In addition to these stalwarts, Rangers will be bolstered by the inclusion of new signings Garando Tekena, Evans Ogbonda, Anayor Ogbonna, Ekeson Okorie, Chimobi Igwilo, and Somtochukwu Nwobodo, who are expected to add fresh dynamism to the squad.
Rangers’ chairman, Amobi Ezeaku, expressed confidence in the team’s readiness for the new season. “I am quite sure that our players got the needed rest from the rigors of last season, and we expect them back to camp on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, for proper pre-season activities to commence,” he told the club’s media.
Ezeaku also extended gratitude to the club’s supporters and stakeholders, acknowledging their crucial role in last season’s success. “We thank all those who were there for us in the concluded season and expect more from them as we venture into the continent to make a big impact and successfully defend our NPFL title.”
