Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Odunlade Adekola, has unveiled the trailer for his upcoming Yoruba language film, Lakatabu, featuring Adebayo Salami, Adedimeji Lateef, and Akin Lewis. The film is set to premiere in cinemas on June 21, 2024.
“When a man begins to use his powers for criminal activities, threatening the lives of citizens with his power and connections. He is Lakatabu the fierce one,” Adekola shared on Instagram on Sunday, June 9, 2024.
The trailer introduces Lakatabu, portrayed by Adekola, an armed robber with mystical support who terrorizes, kidnaps, and murders people. The plot thickens as he faces threats from rival gangs, challenging his reign of terror.
Lakatabu delves into the challenges faced by the protagonist, the fear he instills in others, and the inevitable consequences of his misuse of power. Directed by Adekola, the film is co-produced by Odunlade Adekola Film Productions and FilmOne Studios.
The film’s cast includes notable actors such as Samuel A. Perry (Brodashaggi), Eniola Ajao, Aderinoye Babatunde, Yomi Fash-Lanso, Mr. Latin, Bolanle Ninalowo, and Adunni Ade.
Odunlade Adekola first gained widespread recognition with his lead role in the 2003 Nollywood film Ishola Durojaye. He has since become a prominent figure in Yoruba cinema, known for his compelling performances and directorial prowess. His dedication to his craft has earned him two Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards (AMVCA): Best Actor in a Comedy for A Million Baby (2018) and Best Supporting Actor for Jankariwo (2022).
