Stephy Mavididi secured a brace as Leicester increased their Sky Bet Championship lead to three points, defeating Birmingham 3-2 at St Andrew’s.

Leicester supporters showed solidarity with absent striker Jamie Vardy by wearing masks, while Vardy’s wife, Rebekah, recently lost a court case against Wayne Rooney’s wife, Coleen. A judge ruled that Vardy’s wife leaked information about Rooney to the media.

The match kicked off with a flurry of goals within the first 22 minutes. Despite an early chance for Birmingham, Leicester’s Mads Hermansen made crucial saves. Leicester took the lead in the 10th minute through Abdul Fatawu’s swift counter-attack, resulting in Mavididi chipping the ball over goalkeeper John Ruddy.

Mavididi’s celebration led to a booking for climbing the advertising hoarding and taunting Birmingham fans. However, Birmingham equalized after 15 minutes when Jordan James found the bottom corner.

Leicester regained the lead in the 22nd minute through another rapid counter-attack, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall slotting into an empty net. Leicester had opportunities to extend their lead, but Patson Daka missed a chance from seven yards, and a subsequent effort from Daka sailed wide.
