The Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, has delivered a fervent charge to the Super Eagles of Nigeria as they prepare to embark on their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying series, emphasizing the importance of a robust start.
Expressing unwavering confidence in the team, Senator Enoh underscored the immense pride the nation holds for the Super Eagles. Ahead of their opening match in the qualifying campaign, he urged both the technical crew and players to give their best performances in the upcoming matches.
Recalling the disappointment of missing out on the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, Senator Enoh emphasized the need for the team to secure victories without relying on permutations. “The memory of losing out during the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup is still fresh in the minds of Nigerians,” he stated. “We should bring out their best to pick the first six points in front of us.”
Expressing his complete faith in the talented squad, Senator Enoh acknowledged the Super Eagles’ rich history of success and asserted their capability to secure two wins in the upcoming matches.
Furthermore, he took the opportunity to commend the coaching staff led by Jose Peseiro and support personnel for their dedication and hard work in preparing the team for the qualifiers.
“As the Minister of Sports Development, I want to assure the full support of the Government. We will continue to invest in sports infrastructure, training facilities, and programs that nurture the talent of our young athletes,” affirmed Senator Enoh.
The Super Eagles are set to kick off their qualifying campaign against Lesotho at home and will face Zimbabwe away on November 16th and 19th, respectively.
