Atanda Modupe Deborah, a nursing student enrolled in Stream A of the Faculty of Basic Medical Science at Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), who was reported missing on September 4, 2023, has been discovered dead. The young student was last seen outside the pharmacy twin hall on the FUOYE campus, where she had gone to study, leaving her family and friends in deep distress and concern.

Her lifeless body was discovered on September 6, 2023, with serious head injuries and the horrible fact that her eyes were supposedly gouged out, presenting a haunting and distressing picture of the events surrounding her tragic fate.

The university’s student union body acknowledged the tragic news in an official statement.
The university administration issued a press release yesterday, through the Registrar, Mufutau A. IBRAHIM, stating, “It is crucial to inform the entire university community that immediate measures have been taken in this regard, with all National Security Personnel assigned to handle the situation. In fact, several suspects have been apprehended.”
“In light of this, all students (both from Stream A and any other full-time students still on any of the university’s campuses) are hereby instructed to vacate the premises immediately to facilitate a comprehensive and unimpeded investigation.”
“It’s worth noting that armed security personnel have been swiftly deployed for patrol, surveillance, and security purposes.”
“Rest assured, the university is fully committed to identifying and holding accountable all those responsible; they will face the full consequences of their actions. A new resumption date for all students will be communicated in due course. We deeply regret any inconvenience this may have caused.”
The university community is in shock and sadness as investigations continue to shed light on the circumstances behind this talented young student’s horrific death.
