The FCT Police Command has arrested a dismissed private security guard accused of leading a robbery gang to his former employer’s residence in Asokoro, Abuja.
Police said the incident occurred late last month, during which the guard on duty, Ishaku Marcus, was strangled. The attackers reportedly made away with jewellery, laptops, cash, wrappers and a silver Toyota Camry.
FCT Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, confirmed the arrest of two suspects, Amaechi Edemba and Kelechi Nwokoro, following an intelligence-led operation by the command’s Scorpion Squad between February 12 and 19, 2026.
Preliminary investigations identified Nwokoro as a former employee dismissed in January for negligence. He allegedly recruited accomplices, disabled the CCTV system and cut electricity supply before leading the gang into the house.
Police said the stolen vehicle and other exhibits were recovered, while efforts are ongoing to arrest other fleeing suspects. The commissioner urged residents to profile domestic staff with the police and report suspicious activities.
