The Federal Government has awarded a N21.68 billion contract for the construction of a new corporate headquarters for the National Airspace Management Agency in Abuja.

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, disclosed this on Thursday during the groundbreaking ceremony.

He said the contract for the first phase was awarded to Messrs NHD Interbiz Projects Limited at a cost of N21,684,314,839.40, inclusive of taxes, with a completion period of 30 months.

Keyamo said the project would consolidate NAMA’s administrative and operational functions into a modern facility equipped with a state-of-the-art Air Traffic Management Centre to enhance safety and efficiency in managing Nigeria’s airspace.

He added that the process complied with the Public Procurement Act 2007 and followed a transparent bidding procedure.

Managing Director of NAMA, Engr. Farouq Umar, noted that the agency relocated its headquarters from Lagos to Abuja in line with Federal Government policy and has operated from temporary facilities since 2020.

He said the new centre would unify the Lagos and Kano Area Control Centres into a single hub in Abuja, creating a more efficient “One Flight Information Region” for Nigeria.
