The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has inaugurated a special legal team to address petitions from the February 21 FCT Area Council elections in Abuja.

In a statement, the party congratulated its declared winners, including Gwagwalada Chairman-elect Mohammed Kasim, describing their victories as hard-earned despite alleged irregularities.

PDP claimed that armed security personnel intimidated voters and removed result sheets in some polling units.

The legal team, led by National Legal Adviser Shafi Bara’u, will assist candidates with genuine complaints, urging prompt action to protect their rights.

The party also criticized the Electoral Act 2026 for contributing to low voter turnout and called on the National Assembly and the President to implement urgent reforms.
