President Bola Tinubu has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the fire outbreak that razed Singer Market in Kano over the weekend.

The President commiserated with traders and the Kano State Government over the incident, which reportedly destroyed goods and property worth billions of naira.

The fire broke out on Saturday evening and raged into Sunday morning, marking the second inferno at the market in less than two weeks.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu said he had contacted Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for a situation report and directed a thorough probe to determine the immediate and remote causes of the repeated fires.

Tinubu also mandated Vice President Kashim Shettima to lead a Federal Government delegation to Kano to commiserate with victims and convey the administration’s support.

The delegation, expected to depart Abuja today, includes Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin; Senator Kawu Ismaila; and Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Rep. Abubakar Kabir Bichi.
