Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, has asked the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), headed by Nuhu Ribadu, to clarify reports alleging it imported 10 kilograms of thallium sulphate from Poland.
El-Rufai said in a post on X on Sunday that he had formally written to Ribadu, describing the alleged procurement as a matter of public safety and transparency.
He said opposition leaders were informed that ONSA recently acquired the chemical, which he described as an odourless and colourless toxin capable of causing serious harm.
In his letter, El-Rufai requested details on the purpose of the importation, the intended end-user, the supplier, and whether the transaction was authorised under valid chemical or defence permits.
He also asked about the quantity and concentration procured, storage arrangements, and whether agencies such as NAFDAC and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control were involved in risk assessment.
ONSA had not responded as of press time.
