Chairman of Bwari Area Council, John Gabaya, on Wednesday presented a N30.6 billion budget proposal for the 2026 fiscal year to the council legislature for approval.
The proposal, tagged “Budget of Consolidating Developmental Gains and Strengthening Service Delivery for Sustainable Growth,” is the final appropriation bill of Gabaya’s tenure, expected to end in June 2026.
Gabaya said the budget includes N22.9 billion for capital expenditure and N7.6 billion for recurrent spending, with priority on completing ongoing 2025 projects and ensuring a smooth transition to the next administration.
Speaker of the Council, Dogara Ahmed, commended the chairman’s performance, noting that infrastructural development under the administration had boosted economic and social activities in the area.
Ahmed expressed optimism that improved revenue from joint allocation and internally generated revenue would support full implementation of the 2026 budget.
