Nigerian shot put star Chukwuebuka Enekwechi finished fifth at the Madrid World Indoor Tour after recording a best throw of 20.38 metres in a highly competitive field.
The national record holder faced world-class opponents who posted early-season marks above 21 metres.
American Jordan Geist won the event with a throw of 22.04m, while Jamaica’s Rajindra Campbell placed second with 21.94m. Another American, Roger Steen, finished third with 21.88m.
Despite missing the podium, Enekwechi’s performance is seen as positive as he continues preparations for major competitions later in the season.
