Gunmen Kill Ogidi President-General, One Other in Anambra

Unidentified gunmen, suspected to be cultists, have killed the President-General of Ogidi community, Mr. Ikwuka Okoye, and another man in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The attack occurred on Friday evening, February 6, 2026, at the School Field in Ogidi. The second victim’s identity had yet to be confirmed as of the time of filing this report.

Sources said the killings were allegedly carried out by members of a rival cult group in retaliation for the recent death of their leader, a notorious cultist reportedly arrested and killed by local security operatives in the community.

Eyewitnesses said the assailants stormed the area and opened fire, triggering panic among residents before escaping.

The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the incident on Saturday through its spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who described the attack as linked to cult-related activities in the area.

Ikenga said police operatives had secured the scene and launched an investigation, adding that efforts were ongoing to identify and arrest those behind the killings.

He urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies, assuring that updates would be provided as investigations progress.
