Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has commissioned the Pambeguwa-Kahutu-Kauru road, describing the project as an end to 45 years of neglect of several communities in the area.
The governor on Tuesday inaugurated the 22-kilometre asphalt road, which includes a span bridge linking Kubau and Kauru Local Government Areas, improving connectivity and easing movement across the region.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sani said the journey from Pambeguwa to Kauru used to take about one hour when the project was flagged off on August 27, 2024, but now takes less than 12 minutes.
He noted that Kauru was among 12 local government areas in Kaduna State that had not benefited from any road project in the last 12 years, despite the strategic importance of the route.
According to him, previous administrations had made efforts to construct the road but left it uncompleted for years.
“When we broke ground for this road, we made a solemn commitment to the people. Today, we return not with excuses, but with a completed project,” Sani said, adding that his administration was guided by the principle that promises must be kept.
The governor also assured residents that township roads would be constructed in Kauru, while efforts would be made to address the nearly 20-year electricity blackout in the area, blamed on the absence of power infrastructure.
Sani said his administration has launched an infrastructure renewal programme across Kaduna State, revealing that 140 road projects covering over 1,335 kilometres are ongoing across the three senatorial zones.
He said the projects were selected based on equity and data to correct years of imbalance in access to infrastructure and economic opportunities.
The governor added that the newly completed road would reduce pressure on congested routes, cut transport costs and travel time, and improve safety for commuters.
He noted that students, farmers, traders and emergency services would benefit from better access to markets and essential services, adding that the road was routed through productive farming communities to strengthen agricultural value chains.
