Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has blamed Nigeria’s challenges on poor governance, insisting that politicians, not poverty are the country’s main problem.
Obi made the remarks on Sunday at a thanksgiving service marking Oyo State’s 50th anniversary at St Peter’s Cathedral, Ibadan.
He urged Nigerians to pray for political leaders to manage public resources responsibly.
“Nigeria is not a poor country, it is poorly governed,” Obi said, calling on politicians to use public funds for the common good.
The former Anambra State governor also commended Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for Ibadan’s development, describing the city as historic and progressive.
He expressed optimism about Oyo State’s future and prayed for continued success for the governor and his administration.
