Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Kefas was formally received into the ruling party by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented President Bola Tinubu, at a ceremony attended by APC leaders and supporters.

Speaking at the event, Shettima described the defection as a major boost for the APC and urged party members in Taraba to rally behind the governor as the party’s leader in the state. He assured the state of the federal government’s support.

Explaining his decision, Kefas said joining the APC would strengthen governance and attract more development to Taraba State, adding that the move would help his administration deliver greater dividends of democracy to the people.

APC leaders welcomed the governor, describing his defection as a significant gain for the party.
