The Nigerian Army has arrested 27 illegal miners in the Federal Capital Territory and neutralised terrorist threats in other parts of the country during coordinated security operations nationwide.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Army said troops operating in and around the FCT carried out a targeted operation against illegal mining, leading to the arrest of suspects unlawfully prospecting in restricted areas.

The suspects are to be handed over to relevant agencies for prosecution.

The Army also said ongoing operations across the country have led to the disruption of terrorist hideouts, the arrest of suspected insurgents and bandits, and the recovery of weapons and other illicit items.

The military reaffirmed its commitment to intelligence-led operations and called on the public to continue providing credible information to support efforts to enhance national security and protect lives and property.
