The Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria has urged the Federal Government to step up efforts to address insecurity following the abduction of over 160 worshippers in Kajuru LGA, Kaduna State.

The call was made on Monday by the church’s Supreme Head, His Grace Emmanuel Alogbo, during a press conference ahead of the 2026 Annual General Conference in Ogun State.

He described the abduction as a national crisis and called for modern equipment and support for the Armed Forces to tackle insecurity.

Alogbo said 151 church members remain in captivity after being kidnapped during a Sunday service on January 18, 2026, in Wali community.

He noted the church is relocating vulnerable worship centres and working with the Christian Association of Nigeria to press for stronger security measures.

Reacting, Christian Solidarity Worldwide Nigeria described the captives’ condition as life-threatening, with victims, including children, women, and the elderly-exposed to hunger, cold, and danger. CEO Rev. Yunusa Nmadu criticized delays in rescue efforts and initial denial by security authorities, warning of worsening trauma for families.

Residents of Kurmin Wali continue to live in fear as the ordeal stretches on, deepening anxiety over the captives’ fate.
