No fewer than 6,850 residents have been displaced following bandit attacks on Garin Galadima and neighbouring communities in the Pindiga Emirate of Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State.
The attacks, which occurred on January 23, 2026, affected about 1,141 households across Garin Galadima, Lumbo, Shulto and nearby villages, forcing residents to flee for safety.
The displaced persons are currently taking refuge in communities including Pindiga, Tumu, Kashere, Kombani Isa, Lawanti, Tundu and Tukulma, relying largely on relatives and host communities.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers arrived on motorcycles, razed shops, destroyed food supplies, burnt houses and killed livestock.
At least three people were reportedly killed, while several others sustained injuries.
The Executive Secretary of the Gombe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Abdullahi Haruna Abdullahi, said the government had conducted a joint assessment with NEMA and NEDC and would provide immediate relief, including food, bedding and temporary shelter, to affected persons.
