The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has warned asthmatic patients and people with other respiratory conditions to take precautions as dusty weather persists across the country.

In its weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja, NiMet said dust particles are currently in suspension, posing health risks, especially to vulnerable groups. The agency also urged motorists to drive with caution and advised airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports for effective flight planning.

NiMet predicted hazy and sunny conditions nationwide from Monday to Wednesday. According to the agency, the north-central region will experience sunny and hazy skies throughout the period, while the southern region is expected to have sunny skies with patches of cloud and chances of afternoon or evening thunderstorms.

Light rains are expected over parts of Ogun, Bayelsa, Rivers, Lagos, Delta, Cross River and Akwa Ibom states. NiMet also forecast moderate to thick dust haze over parts of the northern and central regions during the period and urged residents to stay updated through its official weather advisories.
