Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, is set to formally rejoin the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday, January 26, 2026, days after resigning from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
The development was confirmed on Sunday in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, who said Yusuf’s decision was informed by prevailing governance realities and the need to deepen national cohesion and development.
According to the statement, rejoining the ruling party would strengthen collaboration with the Federal Government, fast-track infrastructural development, improve security coordination and enhance service delivery in Kano State.
The statement also disclosed that the governor will register as an APC member alongside 22 members of the Kano State House of Assembly, eight members of the House of Representatives, and the 44 local government chairmen in the state.
