The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has directed its members across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to mobilise for a mass appearance at the National Industrial Court, Abuja, on Monday, following legal action by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), against striking workers.

The directive comes amid an indefinite strike by workers under the Joint Unions Action Committee (JUAC), which has paralysed activities in major FCTA offices.

In a statement on Friday, the NLC described the court action as an attempt to intimidate workers rather than resolve their grievances.

The strike followed the expiration of a seven-day ultimatum over unresolved demands, including unpaid promotion arrears, wage awards, and alleged non-remittance of statutory deductions.

The dispute escalated after the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, through the FCTA, filed a suit at the National Industrial Court seeking to restrain the unions from continuing the strike.

JUAC has maintained that the action will persist until its demands are met, as government offices in the FCT remain largely shut.
