The Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) has entered into a partnership with the organisers of the Dolphin Swimming League, Nigeria’s leading private inter-school swimming competition.
The partnership will see the league host its first-ever long course event on February 21 at the newly built Olympic-size swimming pool at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, Rowe Park, Yaba.
The collaboration follows Lagos State’s strong showing in swimming at the 2025 National Youth Games, where the sport contributed significantly to the state’s gold medal haul. Several of the medalists were discovered through the Dolphin Swimming League.
LSSC Director General, Lekan Fatodu, praised the league’s consistency and impact in talent development, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to supporting youth sports in line with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s vision.
Dolphin Swimming League coordinator, Oluseyi Oyebode, said preparations for the event had been concluded, describing the partnership as a major milestone. He also disclosed that three swimmers from the league would be returning from the African Youth Games in Angola, noting the league’s growing reach and impact.
