Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been released from custody after spending about a week behind bars over allegations of assault and theft.

The singer regained his freedom on Monday, January 19, 2026, after meeting the bail conditions set by the court. Shortly after his release, Portable appeared in a viral video where he denied the allegations, insisting he was falsely accused.
Reports said Portable was remanded following a complaint by his baby mama, Ashabi Simple, and her siblings, who accused him of physically assaulting them and stealing their vehicle.

The incident reportedly followed a confrontation on New Year’s Eve, during which a video of a heated exchange between the singer and Ashabi circulated online.
Following the complaint, Portable was arrested and later arraigned on a nine-count charge bordering on assault, theft, causing bodily harm, and resisting arrest.

The case was heard at the Federal High Court sitting in Ota, where the presiding judge ordered his remand and fixed January 19, 2026, for a bail hearing.

With the bail conditions now fulfilled, the singer has been released pending further proceedings in the case.
