The Joint Union Action Congress (JUAC) of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has dismissed claims by the FCTA that most workers’ demands have been met, insisting the strike remains ongoing.
JUAC members began an indefinite strike on Monday over unresolved labor and welfare issues. FCTA management, through media aide Lere Olayinka, had said 10 of 14 demands were addressed, with efforts on the remaining four. JUAC, however, stated no formal agreement has been reached and labeled reports of resolved issues as “misleading.”
Key unresolved concerns include unpaid promotion arrears, non-remittance of National Housing Fund and pension contributions, staff intimidation, limited training opportunities, and restricted access to the salary portal. “The ongoing strike is lawful, justified, and fully compliant with labor laws,” the union affirmed, urging workers to remain united until all demands are met.
JUAC also rejected remarks attributed to the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD-FCTA), saying they do not reflect the broader workforce. While open to meaningful dialogue, the union warned against misinformation and divide-and-rule tactics.
