Saturday’s Premier League fixtures delivered late drama and mixed fortunes across England.
At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea beat Brentford 2-0 to secure a first league win under their new manager.
João Pedro scored in the first half before Cole Palmer sealed the victory from the penalty spot, despite Brentford enjoying long spells of control.
Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw by Burnley at Anfield. Florian Wirtz gave the Reds the lead, but Marcus Edwards equalised for the visitors. A late missed penalty summed up Liverpool’s frustrating afternoon.
Tottenham suffered a 2-1 home defeat to West Ham in a tense London derby. After an early West Ham goal and a Cristian Romero equaliser, Callum Wilson struck in stoppage time to hand the Hammers a dramatic win.
Elsewhere, Leeds United edged Fulham 1-0 through a 91st-minute Lukas Nmecha goal, while Sunderland came from behind to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at the Stadium of Light.
