The Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), has extended the take-off date for the full implementation of its Single Revenue Account Policy following technical challenges in system integration.

In a statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Executive Chairman, Kingsley Madaki, the council said the extension would allow the completion of upgrades needed for a smooth transition to a unified digital revenue platform.

AMAC explained that the policy, aimed at blocking revenue leakages, enhancing transparency and eliminating cash transactions, has been affected by glitches in integrating the AMAC Smart Tax portal with commercial banks and the central treasury system.

Executive Chairman, Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, said the decision was taken to protect taxpayers and prevent issues such as system failures or double billing.

He added that full implementation would commence only after all technical concerns are resolved.

The council advised taxpayers to continue using existing official payment channels and to honour only Demand Notices bearing verified AMAC digital headers for the 2026 fiscal year.

It also reaffirmed its zero-tolerance for illegal revenue collection, stressing that the ban on cash payments remains in force.

AMAC said a new date for mandatory use of the Single Revenue Account would be announced after a technical audit is completed.
