Popular Nigerian gospel singer Bunmi Akinnanu Adeoye, popularly known as Omije Ojumi, has died after a prolonged illness, her family has confirmed.
A family statement shared on Tuesday said the veteran gospel minister passed away on January 12, 2026, at a hospital in Lagos. The statement, signed by Olawale Akinnanu and posted by her colleague Alayo Melody on Instagram, prayed for her eternal rest.
Akinnanu’s health had drawn public attention in recent months, with videos and posts in 2025 showing her seeking prayers and support for a serious leg ailment.
Renowned for soul-lifting worship songs, including her hit track Omije Ojumi, she was celebrated for her passionate ministry and messages of faith and hope.
Tributes have since poured in from fans and fellow gospel artistes, who described her as a devoted worshipper whose music touched many lives. Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in the coming days.
