The Senator representing Sokoto South, Aminu Tambuwal, has said elections in Nigeria are not fully determined by voters’ choices, alleging widespread manipulation within the electoral process.
Tambuwal made the claim on Monday while appearing on Prime Time on Arise Television, stating that irregularities often occur during result collation, producing outcomes that do not reflect votes cast.
The former Sokoto State governor accused politicians of exploiting loopholes in the system and alleged that some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission are compromised.
According to him, manipulation can occur at polling units, ward, local government, state and national collation levels. He also blamed systemic failures involving INEC, the judiciary and political actors, warning that weaknesses in institutions continue to undermine credible elections.
