Former Sokoto State Governor and ex-Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, has said Nigeria’s persistent challenges are the result of collective failure by the executive, legislative and judicial arms of government.
Speaking on national affairs, Tambuwal cited worsening insecurity, economic hardship and weak institutions as evidence that governance has fallen short of citizens’ expectations. He said rising poverty, unemployment and declining public trust stem from the inability of the three arms to fulfil their constitutional responsibilities.
According to him, the executive has struggled with effective leadership and economic stability, the legislature has failed to provide strong oversight, while the judiciary has come under pressure, eroding confidence in justice delivery.
Tambuwal called for urgent reforms, greater accountability and renewed commitment to democratic principles, urging public office holders to prioritise national interest and work together to rebuild trust and improve citizens’ welfare.
