The Agabe of Ugbada Gwargwada Chiefdom in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Alhaji Hussaini Agabi Mam, has decried the failure of the FCT Administration to upgrade traditional stools nearly 30 years after their installation.
Speaking at his palace, the monarch said many traditional rulers in the FCT were installed about 29 years ago by a former FCT Minister, Gen. Jeremiah Useni, but have remained at the same rank since then.
He said repeated appeals for the upgrade of traditional stools, including at security meetings with past and present FCT ministers, have yielded no result, despite adherence to due process.
Agabi Mam expressed concern that traditional rulers in neighbouring states such as Kogi, Nasarawa and Niger, many of whom were installed later, have been elevated to first class status, urging the FCT Administration to adopt similar administrative practices.
“We are long overdue for an upgrade. Since our installation in 1997, nothing has changed despite our consistent appeals,” he said.
