A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, Dele Momodu, has reacted to calls by former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose urging the party to present Peter Obi as its presidential candidate in the 2027 election.
Fayose, during an interview on Arise Television, said the ADC could become politically irrelevant without Obi, describing the former Anambra State governor as the party’s major political asset due to his popularity during the 2023 polls.
Responding, Momodu said while Obi’s entry into the party has generated excitement, he should not be regarded as the automatic or sole option for the ADC presidential ticket.
He stressed that the party remains committed to internal consultations and a transparent, consensus-driven process ahead of its presidential primary, as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
