Federal Capital Territory Minister and former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed his political influence in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area and pledged strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Wike spoke on Sunday during the finale of his thank-you tour of Obio/Akpor, held at the Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, where thousands of supporters and political leaders gathered.

He dismissed calls for his removal from office, insisting that only President Tinubu has the authority to make such a decision. Wike said politics is driven by power, interests and voter strength, not sentiment.

Highlighting Obio/Akpor’s voting power, with over 684,000 registered voters, Wike described the area as a decisive force in Rivers State politics. He said Tinubu’s policies have benefited the people and vowed that the local government would deliver votes for the President in 2027.

Political leaders at the event, including members of the National Assembly and the Rivers State House of Assembly, pledged continued loyalty to Wike and committed to mobilising support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The event forms part of early political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 polls.
