A support group of the African Democratic Congress, ADC Like-Minds, has condemned the endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term by All Progressives Congress stakeholders in the South-East, describing the move as disconnected from the region’s realities.

APC leaders in the zone had endorsed Tinubu at a stakeholders meeting in Enugu on Saturday, pledging bloc votes for his 2027 re-election bid.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, the National Coordinator of ADC Like-Minds and former APC deputy chairman in Enugu State, Comrade Adolphus Ude, accused South-East APC governors and leaders of pursuing personal interests rather than the welfare of the Igbo people.

Ude said there was little justification for endorsing Tinubu, alleging continued marginalisation of the South-East in infrastructure development, political appointments and federal allocations.

He added that the endorsement ignored the economic hardship and lingering effects of post-2023 election unrest on residents.

APC spokesmen and South-East governors have, however, defended the endorsement, describing it as a strategic move aimed at deepening the region’s inclusion in national politics and governance.
