The Federal Ministry of Works has proposed over N1.9 billion for office equipment, vehicles, maintenance and generator fueling in the 2026 Appropriation Bill, out of its total allocation of N3.2 trillion, according to details on the Budget Office website.
The ministry also earmarked N6.7 billion for personnel costs, with salaries accounting for N4.7 billion.
A breakdown shows N1.06 billion is proposed for office furniture and fittings, N682 million for motor vehicles and N200 million for generator fueling.
Other allocations include N36 million for plant and generator maintenance, N23.8 million for general maintenance and N112 million for utilities.
Additional provisions cover N20 million each for electricity supply and internet services, N10 million for satellite broadcast services, N14 million for fire alarm installation at the ministry’s headquarters and N7 million for servicing fire extinguishers.
Beyond administrative costs, over N500 million is proposed for empowerment programmes targeting women, youths and retirees in several states.
These include N35 million for grinding machines for women in Ndokwa/Ukwani Federal Constituency, N35 million for women’s skills training in parts of Plateau State, and N70 million for skills acquisition and equipment for beneficiaries in Gombe State.
The proposals also include N70 million for mini pick-up vans, shuttle buses and motorcycles in Abakaliki Federal Constituency, Ebonyi State, alongside funds for youth sensitisation and empowerment against drug abuse in parts of the North Central region.
The 2026 Appropriation Bill is expected to undergo scrutiny by the National Assembly before approval.
