Nigeria’s Super Eagles have secured a place in the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations following a composed 2-0 victory over Algeria at the Stade de Marrakech.
The win sets up a last-four clash against hosts Morocco, who edged Cameroon in their quarter-final encounter.
Nigeria dominated proceedings from kickoff, controlling possession and pinning Algeria deep in their half. Victor Osimhen led the line with authority, supported by Ademola Lookman and Akor Adams, while Alex Iwobi dictated play from midfield.
After several missed chances in the first half, the breakthrough came shortly after the restart when Osimhen powered home a header. Nigeria maintained the pressure and doubled their lead through Akor Adams, who finished clinically after being set up by Osimhen.
Wilfred Ndidi marshalled the midfield effectively, limiting Algeria’s response as the Super Eagles comfortably saw out the match.
Nigeria now turn their attention to Morocco as they continue their pursuit of a place in the AFCON final.
