The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan (UI), Prof. Kayode Adebowale, has called on Nigerian leaders to focus on institution-building as a foundation for sustainable national development.
Adebowale made the call in Ibadan at the commissioning of the Sulaiman Botsende Lagundoye Museum and Library at the University College Hospital, stressing that strong institutions, not individuals, are key to national progress.
Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Peter Olapegba, he emphasised the importance of continuity, proper documentation of institutional history, and sustained investment in public institutions.
He added that preserving the legacies of pioneers such as the late Prof. S.B. Lagundoye would inspire future generations and strengthen institutional culture.
The event was attended by academics, medical professionals, and members of the Lagundoye family, who described the late professor as a dedicated scholar and institution builder.
