Nigerian Army Honours Outgoing GOC Ajose in Sokoto

The Nigerian Army’s 8 Division, Sokoto, has honoured its outgoing General Officer Commanding (GOC) and Commander, Sector 2, Joint Task Force Northwest, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Ibikunle Ademola Ajose, for his leadership and contributions to security operations in the Northwest.

The send-off ceremony held on Wednesday at the Eagle Officers’ Mess, Giginya Barracks, saw Ajose commend officers and soldiers for their discipline, professionalism, and resilience amid evolving security challenges.

Ajose urged personnel to remain united and committed to the core values of the Nigerian Army, expressing confidence in the Division’s ability to sustain operational momentum.

In his tribute, Commander, 8 Division Garrison, Brigadier General Abdulmalik Mohammed, described Ajose as a proactive leader whose strategic foresight strengthened operational effectiveness, improved inter-agency coordination, and enhanced troop morale.

Senior officers noted that his tenure recorded gains in troop welfare, infrastructure upgrades, intelligence sharing, and proactive patrols, contributing to improved security outcomes in the region.

The event was attended by security chiefs, government officials, members of the Nigerian Bar Association, and other dignitaries.
