Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, representing Bayelsa West, has categorically denied reports that he defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying he remains a committed member of the party while closely monitoring ongoing political developments.

In a statement issued by his media aide on Friday, Dickson described recent claims that he joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as “false news” and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.

The former Bayelsa State governor explained that he has temporarily stepped back from active politics as he mourns the late Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Dr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who passed away recently. During this period, he has been receiving condolence visits from political leaders and well-wishers across party lines.

While expressing his continued interest in national and party affairs, Dickson said he will consult widely with friends and political allies after the burial of the deputy governor before making any formal political decisions, but stressed that for now he remains a key leader in the PDP.

The clarification comes amid heightened political uncertainty in the PDP following a wave of high-profile defections by some of its key members to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Dickson urged the public and party faithful to disregard the unfounded defection reports and rely only on official communication from his verified channels.
