The incident occurred around 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday near Nasarawan Doka after troops responded to a distress call and swiftly intercepted suspected robbers targeting travellers.

Security sources said the soldiers engaged the criminals, neutralising the threat without any casualties.

One suspect, Kabiru Zayyanu, was arrested with a gunshot wound to the leg and taken to Doka General Hospital for treatment, while other gang members escaped.

Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has dismissed as fake news a viral report claiming he was targeted by a United States attack in Nigeria.
In a post on his verified Facebook page, Gumi clarified that he never made such a statement and is safe at home. “I never said so, and I never thought of such a possibility. I am comfortably staying in my home with my family without fear or apprehension,” he said.
He explained the false narrative likely arose from a misinterpretation of a mosque lecture, where he referenced a past security incident involving Boko Haram in August 2012. “Two people who planned to attack me were killed instantly when their bomb detonated near my house,” Gumi said.
He urged media organisations that carried the report to retract it and issue public apologies.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed the recovery of one of its unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) after it experienced a loss of link during a routine mission under Operation FASAN YAMMA.
The incident occurred within Sector 3 of the operation area while the UAV was on a scheduled task in support of ongoing counter-insurgency operations, the NAF said in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja by its Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
Ejodame said emergency procedures were immediately activated after efforts to restore the link failed, including return-to-base actions and coordinated response measures with sister services and relevant authorities.
He confirmed that the UAV was successfully contained and recovered, adding that technical teams have secured the platform and begun preliminary assessments in line with standard operational protocols.
The NAF spokesman stressed that no casualties were recorded and that military operations across all theatres remain unaffected, reaffirming the Air Force’s commitment to professionalism and national security.
