The National Judicial Council (NJC) has dismissed as false a viral report claiming that 34 lawyers failed an “integrity test” and were dropped from consideration for appointment as Federal High Court judges.
In a statement dated December 31, 2025, signed by its Secretary, Ahmed Gambo Saleh, Esq., the Council said the report was inaccurate, unauthorised and misleading.
The NJC clarified that the processes referenced in the publication were conducted solely by the Federal Judicial Service Commission (FJSC), noting that it had not taken any decision on the candidates.
According to the Council, some applicants were dropped at the FJSC stage due to adverse findings from petitions, while others failed to meet the qualifying scores required to advance to the interview stage before the NJC.
The Council stressed that it did not conduct any integrity screening on the candidates and warned that such reports could damage the reputation of those involved.
The NJC also disclosed that it had begun internal investigations to identify the source of the unauthorised report and reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, due process and judicial integrity.
