Nigeria completed the group stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on a perfect note after defeating Uganda 3-1 in their final Group C match at the Fez Stadium, Morocco, on Tuesday.

The victory earned the Super Eagles maximum nine points, confirming their place at the top of the group, while Uganda finished bottom and exited the tournament.

Paul Onuachu opened the scoring in the 28th minute, finishing from close range after meeting a low cross from Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.

Nigeria dominated the first half, creating several chances as Uganda struggled to cope with their pace and movement.

The Super Eagles doubled their lead in the 62nd minute when Samuel Chukwueze set up Raphael Onyedika, who controlled the ball before calmly slotting it into the bottom corner.

Onyedika grabbed his second goal five minutes later, firing home from about 15 yards after latching onto another Chukwueze cut-back following a swift attacking move.

Uganda, reduced to 10 men, pulled one goal back in the 75th minute when substitute Okello released Mato, who chipped goalkeeper Francis Uzoho.

However, the goal proved a mere consolation as Nigeria comfortably saw out the match.

The result capped a dominant group-stage display by the three-time African champions as they advanced confidently to the knockout phase.
