The Chairman of Oyo East Local Government, Mr. Olatunji, has urged the re-introduction of Islamic Religious Studies (IRS), and Christian Religious Studies (CRS), in public schools, highlighting their role in moral upbringing and character development.

Speaking to education stakeholders and community leaders in Oyo, Olatunji said the neglect of religious studies has contributed to declining moral values among youth.

He noted that IRS and CRS help instill discipline, tolerance, and ethical behaviour in students.

Olatunji called on the Oyo State Government and education authorities to review policies, deploy qualified teachers, and ensure effective teaching of the subjects.

He also appealed to parents and religious groups to support the initiative, stressing that education requires collaboration between government, families, and the community.
